Over the year, members explored every stage of filmmaking – from early scriptwriting and camera workshops to sound design and post-production – working together to bring their original ideas to life on screen. They also took part in a masterclass on directing for film and television, focusing on visual storytelling and how directors work with actors.
The young people worked as a group to write, act, direct, shoot and edit a short film, Scrapbook Memories. The project was exhibited at the Summer Show, a public celebration of work by Club members from across the country. Opening in July at London’s prestigious Somerset House, each Club had a dedicated stand to present their collaborative work.
On Sunday 13 July, the Queen’s Hall team took 12 Saturday Club members to London to attend a graduation ceremony at Somerset House.
Seeing their work exhibited alongside Clubs from across the UK was an inspiring experience, giving members the chance to reflect on how far they’d come and share their achievements with a national audience.
Back in Hexham, a final sharing event in September brought together families, friends, and supporters for a screening of the group’s completed films. It was a proud moment for everyone involved, showcasing not only technical skills developed throughout the year, but also the confidence, teamwork, and imagination that defined the Club’s journey.
