Excitement is building in Hexham as Queen’s Hall gets ready to open its brand-new Christmas production, Red Riding Hood, this weekend! A co-production with Triple Treat Theatre, rehearsals are well underway, and the venue has released a first look at the cast and the magical woodland world taking shape.
This year’s show offers a fresh, modern take on the much-loved tale, following a spirited troop of young explorers and their brilliantly bold friend, Red, as they set off on an adventure through the familiar paths and hidden corners of Hexham woods.
In true community spirit, the arrival of Red Riding Hood has already inspired creativity in town. The Hexham Library Knit and Natter Group have crafted a spectacular Red Riding Hood themed post box topper which is on display now in the Market Place - a woolly celebration of the show that has quickly become a local talking point.
Katy Taylor, Artistic Director at Queen’s Hall Arts, said: “There’s a real buzz around this year’s Christmas show. The team have poured so much heart into creating something magical, rooted in the place we live. We can’t wait for audiences to step into the woods with us.”
Red Riding Hood runs from Friday 6 December to Saturday 3 January, with tickets starting from £13. Accessible performances include BSL-interpreted shows on 21 & 28 December, and a Relaxed Performance on 2 January.
