Over 55+ Dance Mix Class

From Tuesday 8 September – Block booking price: £8 per class when booked in half-term blocks (8 September – 27 October, 8 weeks and 3 November – 8 December, 6 weeks). Individual class price: £9 per session.

Our popular Dance Mix Class is a series of dance workshops for those aged 55 and over! Due to demand, there will be two sessions every Tuesday, this booking page is for the 11.30am session.

A contemporary based class encompassing a variety of techniques and styles closely related to ballet, modern dance, and jazz dance.

The class combines small elements of technique, short phrases of movement and a chance to be creative, allowing the body to move, release tension and build physical skills delivered in a relaxed, friendly and encouraging environment.

This session is led by Kristin Kelly-Abbott.

About Kristin Kelly-Abbott
Kristin is a freelance dance artist, choreographer and dance educator based in Gateshead in the Northeast of England. She is the Founder and Artistic Director of Abbott Dance Theatre (ADT), established in 2013, creating multidisciplinary dance theatre that explores character, visual art, heritage, history and a strong sense of place. Her work is rooted in making dance accessible to wide audiences, presented across theatres, galleries and non-traditional spaces.

As Artistic Director of ADT, Kristin has created and toured work nationally with support from Arts Council England and cultural partners including Dance City, Laing Art Gallery, The Biscuit Factory and Queen's Hall Arts Centre. Her wider career spans contemporary dance, musical theatre, television, commercial work and education. She holds a PGCE with Qualified Teacher Status and teaches A Level Dance alongside her professional practice. She has worked with choreographers including Arlene Phillips, Karen Bruce, Jonzi D and Craig Revel Horwood, and developed her practice through mentoring with Liv Lorent, Michael Keegan-Dolan and Rosie Kay.

Most recently, Kristin has choreographed work for the Sunday for Sammy 2026 production at the Utilita Arena, CBBC and continues to research and develop her own projects for ADT.
