Love music? Love football? Then this workshop is for you!

Join Cathryn and Sophie from Howay Again (the powerhouse pre-match performers for NUFC Women) for our Howay the Lasses workshop!

Learn classic terrace chants (don’t worry – only the clean ones!) then write your own club chant for Hexham FC Women.

PLUS! There’ll even be some time to get stuck into some football skills coaching with Andy Auld from Hexham FC.

Participants can look forward to a fun, creative day blending music, football, and fan culture – perfect for anyone who loves to sing, chant, and cheer on their team!

About Howay Again

Cathryn Anderson and Sophie Purvis are members of the band Howay Again who performed on the Town Moor as part of the Carabao Cup celebrations and at Stack Newcastle before the Newcastle/ Sunderland Ladies football derby. They also performed with Howay Again at Kingston Park stadium at the last home game of the season for the Newcastle Ladies team and at the Newcastle ladies end of season awards ceremony. They're looking forward to performing at the Stack prior to the SELA Cup in August this year.

Cathryn is a music teacher working with classes and community groups across the North East. Her work includes teaching whole-class ukulele, djembe, keyboard, and recorder; running clubs for ‘Music Mash-Up’, ukulele, recorder, and choirs; and tutoring individual and small group woodwind lessons in clarinet, flute, and saxophone. She is also an early years music practitioner, working with children from birth to five years, and runs a summer music club. Outside of teaching, Cathryn performs as a saxophonist, improvising with cover bands at weddings and events.

Previously, she spent eight years as a primary and middle school class teacher, with experience in Nursery, Reception, Year 1, Year 5, and Year 6.

Sophie is a freelance musician based in the North East, specialising in drum kit tuition across schools in Newcastle and North Tyneside. She also leads Rock School and Steel Pan workshops in the community, supporting young people’s musical development. Alongside her teaching, she performs professionally as a drummer in musical theatre, festivals, and session work.
