Calendar Girls
- Main Information
Based on a true story and famous as an award-winning film – a group of Yorkshire women fearlessly challenge themselves and their community by stripping off to revolutionise their annual calendar. Forget misty churches – now it’s “spectacular views of the WI!” complete with marmalade, flower arrangements and of course the famous cherry buns!
The drive to raise money for the local cancer ward where Annie’s husband has died of leukaemia exceeds their wildest hopes, but their journey powerfully highlights darkest grief, personal tensions and the double-edged lure of celebrity. Will The Girls triumph? Of course they will!
Since its premiere, Calendar Girls has become the fastest-selling play in British theatre history.
Queen's Hall Theatre Club will be holding collections for Tynedale Hospice at Home, and Hexham Hub for Cancer at each performance.
