Schools’ Singing Project

Making a welcome return to the Festival programme, this year's schools' singing project is again led by local musician Fiona Lander. One of the region’s best loved singers, a renowned song writer and educator, Fiona will be leading singing workshops with 250 young people from local First, Middle and High Schools. In celebration of the 1350th anniversary of the foundation of Hexham Abbey, Fiona has composed a new work that references some of the early Abbey saints. The project culminates in the opening performance of the Festival.
