About Michael Freeman

Growing up, Michael Freeman’s mother sang and played piano and his father did recordings on reel to reel tape. As a result, Michael and his brothers enjoyed experimenting with music and filmmaking in their spare time.

Michael studied Piano & Composition with Olivia Denham at Birmingham Music Studios and later studied Jazz with Keith Tippett at Dartington International Summer School, Gerry Richardson in Newcastle and Michael Garrick (Royal Academy).

He went on to work as Community Music Coordinator at The Maltings in Berwick and went self employed in 2008, delivering workshops and performances at national and international festivals, venues and education centres.

Michael has produced music for television documentaries, radio, dance and theatre companies.
