Summer Writing Workshop: Playfulness and Performance: An Introduction to Scriptwriting

A workshop that gives young people an introduction to writing theatreand shows them the fun and playfulness of playwriting. The particular focus of this workshop will be character and dialogue. The session will include speaking out loud and embodying characters, giving young people the opportunity to express themselves and develop their confidence!
About Ruby Taylor
Ruby Taylor is a writer, facilitator and youth worker based in North Tyneside and working across the North East. She graduated from Newcastle University with a first class degree in English Literature and Creative Writing in 2024, with a specialism in playwrighting. Ruby has over five years experience working in participatory arts, particularly in applied theatre, work with artists with profound and multiple learning disabilities, and art-based youth work. Organisations she has worked with include The Twisting Ducks Theatre Company, Live Theatre, The Young Women's Film Academy and Seven Stories: The National Centre for Children's Books. She currently works as Lead Youth Worker at Jack Drum Arts, and has her own artistic practise as a writer, particularly for performance, and across other mediums including print-making and film.
