Summer Writing Workshop: Wild Words: Poetry, Play & Postcard-Making
- Main Information
Join local artist, illustrator and writer Emma Winterschladen for this creative, hands-on workshop for children aged 8–11. Combining poetry-writing and art-making, children will explore creating poems from cut-out words gathered from books, newspapers and magazines.
Participants will work both collaboratively and individually, with Emma guiding them to create poems through play, teamwork and creative experimentation. There will also be the opportunity to share work for those who want to. The session will culminate in time for the children to compose a poetry postcard each using cut-out words, collaging and art materials — a personal piece of art for them to take home and frame, or share with a loved one.
No experience needed. This workshop is designed to be playful, low-pressure and accessible to children with different levels of confidence and literacy.
