What does Queen's Hall Arts do?
We develop and deliver a vibrant arts programme, support artists, provide opportunities for our community to take part in the arts and offer a valuable creative resource to our local area.
Queen's Hall is established as a strong base for an extensive range of artistic activity, attracting the best international and national artists from music, drama, dance and national touring comedy to non-professional shows put on by local community groups.
How do you work with local communities?
In addition to activity in the building, we deliver an extensive outreach programme bringing workshops and performances to communities, schools, charities and other organisations throughout Northumberland. Take a look at some of our current projects here.
We support rural film clubs, Tynedale Community Choir and work in association with Hexham Amateur Stage Society and Queen’s Hall Theatre Club.
How do you support professional and early career artists?
We’re committed to supporting professional and early career artists. We offer rehearsal space, advice and other resources to allow the creation of new work inspired by our local area and the people who live here.
We also host a free monthly co-working day for artists based in the Tyne Valley to get together, network and share ideas.
Who are your partners?
Queen’s Hall works with many partners, both regionally and nationally. We really value working in collaboration with other individuals, groups and organisations by pulling together ideas, skills and expertise through co-creation and collaborative support.
Our local partners include Core Music, Hexham Book Festival, Hexham Community Partnership, Hexham Abbey, Museums Northumberland, Forum Cinema, Alnwick Playhouse and Hexham Library among others.
In partnership with other cultural organisations in Hexham, we also lead the Hexham Culture Network.
