La Dolce Vita: Italian music through the ages
Flutes and Frets – Beth Stone and Daniel Murphy - are two talented and prize-winning young musicians who play a remarkable array of flutes and plucked-string instruments (guitars, lutes, theorbos).
Formed in 2021, the duo have already appeared at festivals – including the 2025 Corbridge Chamber Music Festival - and concert series across the UK and Europe. They perform programmes that are imaginative and fascinating explorations of music across the centuries.
Fresh from releasing a debut album, Heir of all the Ages, of English music from Henry Purcell to Malcolm Arnold, they turn their attention this evening to Italy.
It’s an inspiring chronological journey, celebrating some of the finest Italian composers who have influenced the development of western music over the last 600 years. Look out for music by Palestrina, Monteverdi, Vivaldi, Rossini and Paganini among many others and marvel at the skills of these two musicians on instruments that you wouldn’t often expect to find together in a concert hall!
