Discover Your Voice: The Art and Science of Singing – Foundations
- Main Information
Have you always wanted to sing but lacked the confidence to try? Perhaps you already sing in a choir or amateur dramatic group but would love to develop your skills, discover what your voice is capable of or build the confidence to audition for a solo.
Join Victoria Barbé for a welcoming five-week course designed to help you understand your voice as an instrument, unlock its potential and develop practical skills to sing with greater freedom and confidence.
Discover the fascinating world of vocal anatomy and function, learning how your voice works and how to use it safely and effectively. Through practical exercises, we'll explore breathing, resonance, extending your vocal range and accessing different vocal qualities and colours across musical styles, from pop and musical theatre to classical song. There'll be plenty of opportunity to experiment, move around, try some wonderfully silly exercises, make unusual sounds and have a laugh along the way!
Numbers are limited to 16, allowing for individual guidance within a friendly, supportive group. Singing alone is never compulsory.
You don't need to read music or have any previous formal vocal training to take part. Just bring your curiosity, a willingness to try something new and a sense of fun!
