An evening of guitar classics

Craig Ogden is one of the most exciting classical guitarists playing today.  His lyrical playing, relaxed stage manner, wide-ranging repertoire and exceptional virtuosity have all made him a firm favourite with audiences around the world.

This evening is a rare opportunity to experience his artistry up close in the intimacy of Hexham Abbey’s Great Hall. 

Craig’s takes us on a richly varied journey through the guitar’s repertoire – music that spans several centuries and showcases the versatility of the instrument.  It ranges from the baroque works of Rameau, J S Bach and Vivaldi to an 18th-century Scottish lament and Spanish masterpieces by Rodrigo and Tórroba.

It also features evocative works tango music by Piazzolla, jazz-inspired arrangements by George Shearing and Django Reinhardt, and contemporary guitar music by Nikita Koshkin and Roland Dyens.
