Sarah Perry: Enlightenment - In conversation with Sarah Hall

Sarah Perry Credit Sophie Davidson

The author of The Essex Serpent is back with a story of love and astronomy, told through the lives of two improbable best friends.

In this unique event, chaired by novelist Sarah Hall Perry will discuss her latest work in which a couple who have lived all their lives in the small Essex town of Aldleigh and although they are separated in age by three decades, are kindred spirits - torn between their commitment to religion and their desire for greater understanding of the world. After a series of ill-starred romantic adventures that briefly destroy their relationship, Thomas and Grace come back to each other and find a richer understanding of love, the nature of the universe and of their place in it.

Astronomy Sponsor: Kielder Observatory

Chaired by Sarah Hall.
