Hexham Youth Folk Bands – Internship starting October 2019
Queen’s Hall Arts is offering an internship opportunity for a young player (age 18 – 25) of a traditional instrument in folk and traditional music. The internship will be a chance to work alongside professional musician Sophy Ball and to develop skills in leading a folk band of 11 – 15 year olds (Mix and Match.)
It will provide a unique opportunity to develop skills in working with groups of young people and supporting the workshops and performances from October 2018 to July 2019. You will be acting in a support role for the Musical Director in the term time evening ‘Mix and Match’ workshops. These workshops are on a Monday evening between 4.30pm to 6pm and located at the Queens Hall, Hexham. You will lead a number of workshops which may include tune teaching, facilitating the band in compiling arrangements and also preparing the band(s) for performances.
The internship will consist of between 30 sessions (10 per term) and 5 performance sessions. The successful intern will be paid £15 per session plus travelling costs of £5 per session.
Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks will be required, if you do not already have this we can apply for it on your behalf through the Queens Hall.
