Young Writers Group

Delivered in partnership with Hexham Book Festival

An introduction to Creative Writing with Lucie Brownlee, for anyone aged between 14 and 20.

Do you love writing? Do you want to develop and share your writing in a friendly workshop environment? Join published author Lucie Brownlee on this introduction to creative writing. Over six weeks, we will look at the fundamentals of prose, poetry, and script – what makes a cracking story? Dazzling dialogue? A captivating poem?

Each week you will complete a different writing task, and gain valuable, constructive feedback on your work from Lucie and your writing peers. Come along, have fun, and make new writer friends!

Lucie is an award-winning writer, researcher and creative writing tutor.  Her Sunday Times best-seller Life After You was chosen for the Richard and Judy Bookclub (described by Richard as ‘warm, moving… extremely funny’) and adapted for television.  Her novel The Mother made the final four in Mslexia’s Novel Competition 2020 and she is a Northern Writers’ Award for Fiction winner for her novel The Song of Annie Chapman.  Her short stories have been shortlisted in two international competitions and she has published many articles, including for the Independent and the Telegraph.
