A unique companion to J.S. Bach’s iconic Cello Suites from internationally celebrated cellist Steven Isserlis Bach’s Six Suites for Solo Violoncello are among the most cherished works in musical literature.
Neglected for some two hundred years after their composition, Bach’s Cello Suites have acquired an aura which enthrals audiences worldwide; Bach takes us on a unique spiritual journey, from joy, through tragedy and finally to jubilation. Internationally renowned cellist Steven Isserlis, whose award-winning recording of the suites received huge critical acclaim, goes deep into the history and the emotional journey of the suites, bringing to bear all his experience of performance. With penetrating insight and with an enthralling mixture of master detective work and story-telling, Isserlis explores the world of this music, enhancing the experience of hearing some of the greatest works ever composed.
