The Mithras Trio were formed in 2017 and are already earning a reputation as one of the next generation's most exciting piano trios. They have won several awards, including first prize at the Trondheim International Chamber Music competition and, in 2019, the Royal Philharmonic Society's prestigious Henderson Award for emerging chamber ensembles. They are currently on the Countess of Munster Trust Recital Scheme, which showcases and supports young talent, and in June 2021, they were announced as members of the BBC's New Generation Artists scheme
Their programme this evening features three classics of the repertoire, beginning with masterpieces by Haydn and Brahms, and ending in Schubert's great E-flat trio with its instantly hummable melodies.
"The playing was expressive, with lovely variations in dynamics and exquisite phrasing. Their balance was perfect." Strings Attached
