Jason Cook’s Comedy Club
Friday 23 November 8.00pm
Be ready for pretty much anything when award-winning comedian, creator and writer of BBC2’s Hebburn, Jason Cook takes to the stage as master of ceremonies. Behind his cheerful Geordie exterior lurks a dark, sharp comedic mind capable of taking an unsuspecting audience to places they didn't want to go. Jason is close to the edge but always intriguing and blessed with the sort of charm that'll have you laughing in spite of yourself.
With two special guests and, as usual, Glen Roughead will be joining Jason in the middle section for some music and chaos.
Joining Jason will be...
Matt Reed: Born and bred in Sunderland, Matt's affable style has won him fans across the UK. He effortlessly plays with the crowd with a natural rapport that is found in few comics. With so many gigs of every size under his belt, from 3000 to 30, there is pretty much no comedy situation Matt can't handle. Having played all the major clubs in the country, Matt is now also in great demand as MC for music festivals, burlesque nights and corporate occasions. As pleasant as he is wonderfully brutal, Matt is a welcome addition to any comedy night entertaining the crowd while skillfully destroying any heckler that crosses his path.
Barry Dodds: Self-confessed comedy geek, Barry took to the comedy stage at the tender age of 21 and soon had audiences eating out of the palm of his hand. Using his own combination of irrepressibly cheeky, and surprisingly dark material, he quickly found himself taking the national comedy circuit by storm. Barry co-hosts the cult hit podcast The Parapod with Ian Boldsworth, all about the supernatural. Ian and Barry debate the paranormal, explore hauntings, and delve headfirst into the unknown. The Parapod quickly became a huge hit with listeners, was nominated for 'Best Internet' at the 2016 Chortle Awards and was recently made into a feature film, which will premiere in 2018.
