Current BBC New Generation Artists and often heard on Radio 3, the dynamic young Consone Quartet are rapidly emerging as one of the most exciting ensembles of their generation. The Strad magazine described one of their performances as a 'musicial, emotional, stylistic and techTuesday, 19th October at 7.30pm in Hexham Abbey (Note venue)nical bullseye'.
Tonight they are focussing on music of the classical and romantic periods - repertoire for which they are particularly well known. They play music by Fanny Mendelssohn alongside one of her brother's greatest quartets. There is also a Haydn classic and Schubert's Quartettsatz, a movement from a quartet that the composer never completed. It seems it's not only symphonies that remained unfinished.
The Consone Quartet play 'with such intelligence and imagination, that I would happily listen to them every day'. - Sir Roger Norrington
