Northumberland Youth Theatre Festival

Queen’s Hall Arts, in association with the Royal Society of Arts, hosted the first Northumberland Youth Theatre Festival in Hexham from Monday 26 July to Friday 6 August 2010.

Led by professional artists, young people aged 15 - 19yrs from across the north east gathered in Hexham for an ambitious programme of drama work culminating in the presentation of two productions by the participants at the Queen’s Hall Art Centre.

This is a new, exciting festival, with countywide participants, that provides inspiring opportunities for young people to become more involved in theatre. There is a great history of drama talent from the north east, with the likes of Tim Healy and Robson Green, and we hope that this festival will encourage young people to continue that tradition.

In future years the festival will rotate around the county and other communities will take on the host role.
