Launch Day is a celebration of the working class and shipbuilding in all its industrial glory.
Inspired by the paintings of artist Alexander Millar, Kelly-Abbott Dance Theatre crafts exciting and powerful movement, combined with an enchanting soundtrack featuring music by Mark Knopfler and Irish composer Breifne Holohan.
Launch Day brings to life Millar’s iconic characters - the 'Gadgies' –and British shipyard workers socially and at work.
Launch Day will delight anyone with a passion for the industrial history of the UK, celebrating the rich culture of country’s past and present.

We are seeking 10 community participants (male / female, 30yrs+) to perform with Kelly-Abbott Dance Theatre in the character roles of the ‘Gadgies’ in Launch Day on Wednesday 14 February (see page 7). No Dance / Drama experience necessary - just a passion for the arts and a desire to tread the boards. Commitment involves 3 rehearsal sessions and the performance. For more details contact Geof Keys
